MESSAGE FROM THE SCHOOL
October 2007
Dear Alumni
My first visit to ACI was in 1992 as the co-chair of a school accreditation team. Since then I have participated in accreditation visits to many other schools, yet my memories of that visit to ACI remain still today most special. The school’s motto “Enter to Learn; Depart to Serve” set a clear standard for the school. Faculty, students, and the administration worked together in a supportive environment with a common purpose. There was a strong sense of dedication and teamwork to make the school’s program the best possible for its students.
Now in 2007, I have the privilege to return as the director of this school. In the meantime, ACI has been restructured to serve students in grades Prep through Lise IV. The IBDP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Program) has been introduced. The gymnasium in Parsons Hall has disappeared to provide additional classroom space and the construction of a new Taner building is about to begin. These differences and others are, however, for the most part only superficial. The quality of ACI, the commitment to its students, and the sense that we work together and support each other as a family have not changed. You can perhaps now understand why I so greatly welcome this opportunity to serve and join ACI as a member of this family.
As Alumni, you too have helped build the reputation ACI continues to enjoy. Whether through scholarship, service or through relationships you developed as an ACI student or, through leadership, community involvement and outstanding achievement you experienced as an ACI graduate, your contributions have been most valuable in making ACI what it is today. Very seldom does a day go by when I’m not introduced to someone who proudly replies “I’m a graduate of ACI too!”
There are many ACI alumni and it is always a privilege to meet each of you. Known or unknown, however, we now share a common bond. We have all grown personally and intellectually because of our experiences at ACI and having lived in Ýzmir. Therefore, along with the members of the administration and ACI faculty, I wish to extend our greetings and best wishes to each of you. Rest assured that we will continue to build a high quality school program of which students, parents, and alumni can be proud.
Sincerely,
Chris Hanna Director
