The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) is a non-profit educational foundation that was established in 1968. Its headquarters are in Geneva, Switzerland, and the Programme Development and Assessment Centres are in Cardiff, U.K. International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is for students aged 16 to 19 in the final two years of secondary school. The IBDP is recognized throughout the world as a leading standard in education and serves as a rigorous pre-university course of study designed for highly motivated secondary school students.
The Diploma Programme is offered in 123 countries by 1464 schools. In our country, it is designed to meet MEB requirements and is successfully administered by about 20 schools.
While each component of the Diploma Programme has specific aims and assessment objectives, the distinctive aims of the programme as a whole are to:
• provide an internationally accepted qualification for entry into higher education. • educate the whole person, emphasizing intellectual, personal, emotional and social growth. • develop inquiry and thinking skills, and the capacity to reflect upon and evaluate actions critically.
